There is also a lot of false doctrine being taught, especially from televangelists.Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01146601338956701881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3096670002191538774.post-46822628757311511482008-12-14T02:17:00.000-05:002008-12-14T02:17:00.000-05:00I think most churches are in a very sad state toda...I think most churches are in a very sad state today, and I absolutely agree there should be way more reaching out and missions.Farrahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14274760327802884251noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3096670002191538774.post-9042287639340632822008-12-12T16:42:00.000-05:002008-12-12T16:42:00.000-05:00Matt,Thank you, and that does indeed answer my que...Matt,

Thank you, and that does indeed answer my question! The term comes from the prophet Isaiah who likened the Latter-Day Church of God to a tent, supported by multiple stakes which secure it to the ground. Isaiah wrote, "Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes" (Isa. 54:2) So in other words, the more stakes there are, the stronger the Church is.

The term is comparable to the Catholic Church's use of the word diocese. Stakes in the LDS Church typically have 5-10 congregations called wards and 3-5 thousand members.

I hope that answers any questions you had.Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16030323360917985701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3096670002191538774.post-34322572160753484122008-12-12T03:17:00.000-05:002008-12-12T03:17:00.000-05:00I will email you on this.Russ:)I will email you on this.

Russ:)Dr. Russell Norman Murrayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06703130625190233670noreply@blogger.com
