Christian Teenager Flees Home, Saying She Fears Muslim Father Will Kill Her

Rifqa Bary: "I am fighting for my life, you guys don't understand...he said he would kill me!"

“When a person who has reached puberty and is sane voluntarily apostatizes from Islam, he deserves to be killed. In such a case, it is obligatory for the caliph (A: or his representative) to ask him to repent and return to Islam. If he does, it is accepted from him, but if he refuses, he is immediately killed.” — ‘Umdat al-Salik o8.1-2

The DCF (Department Of Children And Families) wants to send this young girl back to her father, who is looking to murder her.

And yet, when all a parent does is merely spank a child (which I experienced many times when I was young), the DCF takes the child away from their home and their parents (thankfully, that didn't happen to me; if the DCF or anyone else had taken me away from my parents, my life would have then become a living hell and a horrible nightmare):
Child was spanked by parents, then taken away from family.

The father claims that he never threatened to kill his daughter and claims that it's completely OK with him that she became a Christian. However, "unlike most religions, within Islam there are certain provisions under which lying and deceiving is not simply tolerated, but actually encouraged. In his book “The spirit of Islam,” Afif A. Tabbarah writes in page 247, “Lying is not always bad, to be sure; there are times when telling a lie is more profitable and better for the general welfare, and for the settlement of conciliation among people, than telling the truth. “

"An example of Islamic deception is that Muslim activists always quote the passages of the Quran from the early part of Mohammed's ministry while living in Mecca. These texts are peaceful and exemplify tolerance towards those that are not followers of Islam. All the while, they are fully aware that most of these passages were abrogated (cancelled and replaced) by passages that came after he migrated to Medina. The replacement verses reflect prejudice, intolerance, and endorse violence upon unbelievers.

It is imperative to understand, that Muslim leaders can use this loop-hole in their religion, to absolve them from any permanent commitment. It is also important to know that what Muslim activists say to spread Islam may not always be the whole truth. When dealing with Muslims, what they say is not the issue. The real issue is what they actually mean in their hearts."

"Al-Takeyya...[is]...the Islamic principle of lying for the sake of Allah. That's right, folks. Falsehoods told to prevent denigration of Islam, to protect oneself, or to promote the cause of Islam are sanctioned by the Qur'an.

Included in the list of practices encouraged and permitted under the Muslim doctrine of Al-Takeyya are lying under penalty of perjury in testimony before the United States Congress, lying or making distorted statements to the media such as claiming that Islam is a religion of peace, and deceiving fellow Muslims when the one lying has deemed them to be apostates."

Dear Jeff,

This morning on the Today show it was announced that President Obama has asked me, on behalf of American Solutions, to travel the country on an Education Reform tour. I'll be joined by two very unlikely allies, to talk about charter schools and real education reform.

I'll be travelling with Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Reverend Al Sharpton, who are also strongly in favor of charter schools, on a multi-city tour.

As a citizen, I believe where you have differences with your elected officials, you should oppose them vigorously. But when you can find common ground, it's important to work together to achieve the common goal.

As a candidate, and even now, President Obama has supported charter schools. On this subject, and in other ways that we can work together to strengthen education in our country, I look forward to working with the President.

Please sign up here for behind the scene updates, and to read about some of the solutions that will be proposed.

Our tour will include school visits, stakeholder meetings and media briefings, and we hope to regularly update you on what we learn, what solutions we propose, and how you can get involved.

This tour is about our children and their future. It is about the future of America. If we want to remain the safest, freest and most prosperous nation in the world, our children and grandchildren must have access to schools where they can learn to their fullest potential. Our schools must be accountable for results and be focused solely on learning and achievement.

Please sign up to stay updated by clicking here, where you can also read about some of the solutions that will be proposed.

Thanks for all you do.

Newt Gingrich
General Chairman
American Solutions

P.S. To announce the Education Reform Tour, both Rev. Sharpton and I were on the Today Show this morning. You can watch the clip here.

A Slow-Motion Honor Killing By: Robert Spencer
Thursday, August 13, 2009

A seventeen-year-old girl from Ohio, Rifqa Bary, fears for her life today. She is afraid that her own parents will murder her. Her father, she explains, “said he would kill me. Or he’d have me sent back to Sri Lanka where they’d put me in the asylum.” Her crime in their eyes? She has converted to Christianity from Islam – bringing to the fore once again the prevalence within Islamic communities in the West of attitudes and beliefs that foster honor killings and the murder of apostates from Islam.

Rifqa has fled to Florida, where she has become the center of a bitter custody battle with her parents – and she herself is adamant that if she is forced to return to her parents, her life will be in danger: “if I had stayed in Ohio,” she says flatly, “I wouldn’t be alive.” If she is made to return, she says, “I will die within a week. My life is at stake. My dad threatened me.” Rifqa is under threat both because of Islam’s apostasy law and because, as she herself explains, by converting to Christianity she has besmirched the family’s honor: “in 150 generations of my family no one has known Jesus. I am the first one. Imagine the honor in killing me. There is great honor in that.”

Jeff said...

Rifqa appeared to be aware that many Westerners would be surprised to hear that she considers herself under the threat of death because of Islam’s stance toward those who leave the faith: “Islam,” she explained, “is very different than you guys think. They have to kill me. My blood is now halal, which means that because I am now a Christian, I’m from a Muslim background, it’s an honor. If they love God more than me, they have to do this. And I’m fighting for my life.”

She might have had in mind the smooth deceptions that Imam Hatim Hamidullah of the Islamic Society of Central Florida spread Monday during his appearance at her custody hearing in Orange Circuit Court in Florida. “It is not Islam,” said Hamidullah, “for the father to bring harm upon his blood daughter or any other human being because of anger. Our position is to exhaust all measures that would bring peace and harmony back to the family. Being angry and threatening the life of someone is not one of those methods.” Hamidullah chose his words carefully: he didn’t actually say that Islam doesn’t prescribe the death penalty for apostasy. He just said that the father shouldn’t harm his daughter because he is angry with her. This leaves the door open for the father to murder his daughter for apostasy or honor, as long as he does it dispassionately.

Other Islamic spokesmen in the U.S. have been even more flagrantly deceptive. M. Cherif Bassiouni, a professor of Law at DePaul University and President of the International Human Rights Law Institute, asserted about the notorious Abdul Rahman apostasy case in Afghanistan in 2006 that “a Muslim’s conversion to Christianity is not a crime punishable by death under Islamic law.” This is simply false. Islam’s death penalty for apostates is only a dead letter if no one cares or is able to enforce it in a particular case, but it is deeply rooted within Islam. Some argue that it derives from Qur’an 4:89, which speaks of those who have embraced the Islamic faith and then turned “renegade,” directing Muslims to “seize them and slay them wherever ye find them.” Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, said, “Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him” (Bukhari, vol. 9, bk. 84, no. 57). This is a universal principle in Islamic law. The Islamic scholar and ex-Muslim Ibn Warraq explains that all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence teach this: “Under Muslim law, the male apostate must be put to death, as long as he is an adult, and in full possession of his faculties….According to Hanafis and Shia, a woman is imprisoned until she repents and adopts Islam once more, but according to the influential Ibn Hanbal, and the Malikis and Shafiites, she is also put to death.”

Jeff said...

Rifqa Bary hails from Sri Lanka, where the Shafi’i school of Islamic jurisprudence prevails. A Shafi’i manual of Islamic law directs that “when a person who has reached puberty and is sane voluntarily apostatizes from Islam, he deserves to be killed. In such a case, it is obligatory for the caliph (A: or his representative) to ask him to repent and return to Islam. If he does, it is accepted from him, but if he refuses, he is immediately killed.” ('Umdat al-Salik o8.1-2).

The internationally renowned Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, whom Saudi-funded Islamic apologist/scholar John Esposito of Georgetown University famously called “a reformist,” is likewise adamant: “Muslim jurists are unanimous that apostates must be punished, yet they differ as to determining the kind of punishment to be inflicted upon them. The majority of them, including the four main schools of jurisprudence (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi`i, and Hanbali) as well as the other four schools of jurisprudence (the four Shiite schools of Az-Zaidiyyah, Al-Ithna-`ashriyyah, Al-Ja`fariyyah, and Az-Zaheriyyah) agree that apostates must be executed.”

Because of these mainstream and authoritative Islamic teachings, a girl’s life is in danger today. And as long as American authorities continue to pretend that the great mass of Muslims in the United States ignore or reject these traditional teachings of Islam, there will be many more young girls who will share Rifqa Bary’s plight.

Robert Spencer is a scholar of Islamic history, theology, and law and the director of Jihad Watch. He is the author of eight books, eleven monographs, and hundreds of articles about jihad and Islamic terrorism, including the New York Times Bestsellers The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades) and The Truth About Muhammad. His latest book, Stealth Jihad: How Radical Islam is Subverting America without Guns or Bombs, is available now from Regnery Publishing.

Canada: Muslim threatened to kill his daughter after "she turned her back" on Islam
August 14, 2009

Here is a similar case that buttresses Rifqa's credibility.

"Crown wants taxi union boss jailed for ‘honour crime,’" by Andrew Seymour for The Ottawa Citizen, August 14 (thanks to Heart of a Lioness):

OTTAWA — Crown prosecutors are seeking to send the head of Ottawa’s taxi union to jail for up to two years, alleging that a campaign of threatening and intimidating behaviour directed toward his daughter after she turned her back on the family’s Muslim beliefs was an honour crime.

Yusef Al Mezel’s threat of an honour killing was designed to “control and dominate” his then-23-year-old daughter, Eman Al Mezel, by suggesting she had brought shame upon her family that would be met with violent consequences, assistant Crown attorney James Cavanagh argued during a sentencing hearing Thursday.

Al Mezel, who pleaded guilty to criminal harassment last September, was trying to deny his daughter “every basic freedom as to how she could live her life,” Cavanagh said, the result of an “underlying notion of patriarchal dominance” based on a “perverted and archaic belief in family honour.”

“When she wouldn’t bend to his will ... he raised the spectre of violence in the name of honour to scare her into complying with his wishes,” said Cavanagh, who urged Ontario Superior Court Justice Lynn Ratushny to sentence the 44-year-old president of the Canadian Autoworkers Local 1688 to 18 to 24 months behind bars.

Al Mezel admitted he repeatedly called, wrote, followed and visited the residences of Eman Al Mezel in July 2007 in an attempt to get his daughter to return home after a violent incident where he pushed her into a flight of stairs and threatened to break her legs and kill her before smashing her computer.

Addressing the court, Al Mezel said hearing the prosecutor’s allegations that he committed an honour crime was like “listening to evil from another world.”

“It is not my world,” Al Mezel told the judge, adding that the Crown’s accusations that he would commit such an act were being cast with a “broad brush” and left him and his reputation tainted with “very ugly paint.”

“What I hear today is something I never lived in, something I never believed in,” he said....

Of course not!

In one of the e-mails, Al Mezel tells his daughter, who was living with a male friend and his family, that they could no longer “hide the problem” from her uncles and cousins and that he could not guarantee the “safety of anyone” if she didn’t return home.

“Eman, you know when everyone hear about, they will react crazy, and no one will care about police or other thing, you know your family,” read the e-mail.

“Please Eman, help to solve it without harm to any one. You should care about the family you live with, you don’t want your uncles and cousins at the door of the apartment, please we don’t need more problems.”

In the message, he wrote of “the Sharaf of the family,” which Eman Al Mezel later explained to police was the belief that because she had run away from home and shed her hijab and Muslim beliefs, she had “shamed and dishonoured her family.” At the time, her father was also arranging to have her married to a Syrian man she didn’t want to marry.

The only way to restore the family’s honour, according to Eman Al Mezel, would have been to kill her, an act usually carried out by the father or uncles.

Court heard Eman Al Mezel and the family she had been staying with were moved out of Ottawa by police over concerns for their safety and have never returned.

Al Mezel insisted he was concerned about a daughter he loves and “absolutely” didn’t mean what he wrote....

Of course not!

I'm not going to defend Islam, but just like there is a wide range of Christian doctrines, it's the same with them. The extremists are getting a lot of coverage, because they hide behind the Quran.

The OT is full of instances where God told His people to kill those who disobeyed and to wipe out entire nations. And bad things happened when they failed to do so. One can read those and claim that Judeo-Christian beliefs are just as violent as Islamic ones. And oddly enough, the NT largely nullifies the violent elements of the OT. Of course, the progression in the Bible is from violence to non, NOT the other way around, as is apparently the case with the Quran.

Yes, apparently there are various sects in Islam just as there are various denominations in Christianity.

Some Muslims say that there is only one type of Islam, but I know there are different sects such as Shiite and Sunni Muslims. In similar fashion, there is only one true Christianity, but various denominations differ on non-foundational issues.

One person online said:
"The sects in Islam (eg Maliki, Hanafi, Syafii and Hanbali) are schools of thought of interpreting certain branches (in Arabic it is called furu') of Islamic teaching such as the "fiqh". There are no differences of opinion regarding the major and basic teaching of Islam."

Another person said that there are about 73 sects and some of their actions may take them outside of the fold of Islam.

Here are some of the deviated sects he listed, and his descriptions of them:

"Ikhwan ul-Muslimoon:
A group founded by Hassan al-Banna and which serves as an umbrella organisation to accommodate all and sundry, regardless of deviation in creed and methodology.

Jamaa`at ut-Tabligh:
Founded by Muhammad Ilyas who had pledged allegiance to four Soofee Tariqahs, this group has exceeded all bounds in innovations and aspects of shirk.

Hizb ut-Tahreer:
Founded by Taqi ud-Din an-Nabahani, a Mu'tazilee and Ash'aree in thought and belief, this group has made the restoration of the Khilafah the main focus of its call.

The Nation of Islam:
More deserving to be called the Nation of Kufr, this cult has used black nationalism as its momentum in finding recruits. with elements of Muslim and Christian beliefs.

The Habashis:
The Habashis are merely an extension of the Mu'tazilah and Ash'arees, their beliefs being one and the same, along with idiosyncracies unique to their own movement.

The Bareilawis:
Originating in the Indian Subcontinent due to the handiwork of British Imperialists, the belief and practises of this sect are founded upon superstition, folklore and many innovatory practises.

Qutubis and Surooris:
The Qutubis and their more recent foster-brother, the Surooris are characterised by an exaggerated emphasis to political issues and affairs and inciting and arousing the common-folk into bloody revolutions and civil strife, such as those of Algeria.

The Takfiris make unlicensed takfeer of governments and scholars and call the common-folk to bloody revolution as a way to remove such governments and establish Islamic Law.

The Jihadis:
The Jihadis have made offensive Jihad as the starting point in their call to Allah and have shunned the Ulamaa, without returning to them and their verdicts in the grave and serious issues such as Jihad in the current times.

The Naqshabandis:
The present-day Naqshabandis are determined in their war against Islam and the Muslims and seek to pull in unsuspecting and ignorant Muslims by their "populist" and cleverly devised approach.

The Perwaizis, Khalifites (19ers) And Rejecters of the Sunnah:
These are the Rejectors of the Sunnah, and spring from the works of Ghulaam Ahmad Parweiz and Rashid Khalifah, both of whom were declared apostates, due to their very clear and apparent kufr.

The Deobandis:
A look at the essentials of the Deobandite School of Thought, which is a concoction of Taqleed, Sufism, Baatinism, Tasawwuf and other affairs.

Hizbees (Biased Partisans):
Looking at the Hizbiyyah, its people, its characteristics and traits and how it is upheld and promoted and related affairs.

A partisan group that has arisen opposing the Salafi Manhaj in these times. They declare others to be innovators without distinction and proof, they curse the Imaams of the Salafi Manhaj and raise themselves as Imaams of guidance."

There are more than 100 verses in the Qur'an (Koran) advocating the use of violence to spread Islam. There are exactly 123 verses in the Qur'an about killing and fighting.

Qur'an 9:5, known as "the verse of the sword," declares, "Fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem."

"Honor is the Arab tribal tradition that requires a woman to sacrifice her individuality to maintain the reputation of the men in her family. This, in effect, turns women into communal property. Their lives don’t belong to them. Their lives belong to a wider group of people — their clans, tribes, even nations.

Which means when a Muslim woman is accused of dishonoring — of shaming or breaking moral codes — the punishment against her can be mammoth. Again, that’s because her life doesn’t belong to her, but to a bigger body. So that in “smearing” her personal reputation by being the victim of rape, she winds up tarnishing the reputation of many more people — with the penalty having to be large enough to compensate them all."

On several occasions friends of Rifqa Bary would bring her down to the school counselor because of bruises on her legs and her arms, beatings suffered at the
hands of her father and brother. The middle school, in a serious dereliction of duty, did not report these beatings to child welfare services. Beatings were random, violent, and unprovoked. Take, for example, when Rifqa and her father Mohammad were driving
in the car. He would force her to wear the hijab, which she hated. In her discomfort she would slouch down, embarrassed, and her father would haul off and sock her
in the face so that she never forgot to sit up straight in her costume. The beatings were regular and so much a part of the landscape of Rifqa's life, she became inured to them.

Rifqa said: "He took that laptop and waved it in the air and he was about to beat me with it, and he said, “If you have this Jesus in your heart, you’re dead to me. You’re not my daughter.” And I refused to speak but he said, “I will kill you. Tell me the truth.”
In these words, bad words, cuss words. So I knew that I had to get away.

The United Nations estimates that as many as 5,000 women are murdered in such honor killings
each year for offenses like immodesty or refusing an arranged marriage. And they may be on the rise in the U.S.

Amina Yaser Said, 18, and Sarah Yaser Said, 17, were found dead in a parking lot on New Year's Day in Irving, Texas, murdered by their father merely for dating boys who were not Muslims. The first call, made at 7:33 p.m. on Jan. 1, 2008 and determined to be made by Sarah Said, was dialed from a cell phone from an unknown location, according to police. Sarah can be heard telling the operator repeatedly "I'm dying." The second call came in at 8:30 p.m., reporting a suspicious circumstance at a hotel in the Irving area. Sarah and Amina were found shot to death in their father's taxi. The on-the-lam father believed to have murdered his two teenage daughters had a long history of abuse that included several clashes with the law in the past, according to The Dallas Morning News. Yaser Said, 50, is still on the run. Some family members believe he may have fled the country to his homeland of Egypt. Family members say he had physically abused and threatened his daughters and his 36-year-old wife, Patricia (whom he married when he was 36 and she was 15), for more than a decade, and was prone to violent outbursts and diatribes about the corrupting influence of Western culture on his children. He tried to marry off Amina in his native Egypt when she was 16.

When she was just 19, Sandeela Kanwal traveled from America to Pakistan for an arranged marriage to a cousin twice her age. Less than six years later, she was dead — strangled — and her father, Chaudhry Rashid, was arrested by police as the suspect for what some have called an "honor killing." On July 1,
Kanwal filed for divorce, a prospect her father, a 52-year-old immigrant from Pakistan, would not entertain. Investigators say that after an argument on the night of July 5,
he strangled Kanwal with a bungee cord. He could not accept the "disgrace" a divorce or affair would bring on his family, according to police.

Morsal Obeidi, a 16-year-old Afghan immigrant, was ambushed in the parking lot of a Hamburg,
Germany McDonald's restaurant by her 23-year-old brother Ahmad, who stabbed the girl 20 times,
merely because she had become too comfortable with Western life with her uncovered hair, makeup
and short skirts. Prior to her murder, she reportedly had sought the protection of a child and youth welfare agency to escape the violence on more than one occasion.

Rand Abdel-Qader, 17, was butchered to death by her father in an "honor killing" after she befriended and fell in love with a British solider in Basra. Upon hearing the news, her father rushed home and began to strangle her while stabbing her repeatedly and screaming that he was “cleansing his honor.” The 22-year-old British soldier does not appear to have done anything wrong by befriending the teen.
There is no evidence that the two shared a physical relationship. She was proud to be a virgin and had a dream to give herself to the man she loved only after her marriage. The teen was buried quickly, without the traditional mourning because she was "deemed impure," the Mail reported. Her uncles reportedly spat on her body as it was being buried.

Zein Isa, a Palestinian terrorist who lived in St. Louis, was convicted of killing his daughter Palestina in 1989. Investigators say he was furious she had a black boyfriend, went to a school dance and got a job at Wendy's. Palestina's mother held her down as Isa plunged a 9-inch knife into his daughter's chest, actions the FBI picked up on a microphone as they investigated Isa for his terrorist ties.

Waheed Mohammad, a 22-year-old immigrant from Afghanistan, was shamed by his sister, who
he thought was a "bad Muslim girl." At his mother's behest, investigators say, he tried to "stop" his sister, stabbing her multiple times, though she survived and spoke to FOX News.

I saw a video of a girl who at 11 years old, tried to commit suicide by fire because of being raped and beaten by her Muslim husband (via a forced marriage).

Another girl, 12 years old, showed the injuries from where her Muslim husband attacked
her with a knife, and was afraid he was going to kill her.

A 16-year-old girl in Canada was killed by her Muslim father for not wearing the hijab.

I viewed one video that shows one Muslim cleric (an imam, I think) explaining that, in Islam, there is no minimum age for marriage. He explained that, though it may differ from country to country because of laws, even a girl 1 year old is not too young to marry. He said the model is Mohammad himself, who married a 6-year-old girl.

I saw where one Muslim man beheaded his wife.

Regarding Rifqa Bary:

1. Mohamed Bary and his wife appear to be devout, observant Muslims -- Mrs. Bary, after all, has her head covered in the photo of them that is circulating. That indicates that they respect at least some, if not all, Islamic laws. Mohamed Bary is asking us, by claiming that he has no problem with his daughter being a Christian, to believe that he rejects Islamic law in this particular area. Yet there is no indication that they reject Islamic law in any other way.

2. Apostasy is a capital crime according to all the Islamic schools of jurisprudence, so that it is not unreasonable to believe that devout Muslims would object to the conversion to Christianity of their daughter, and desire her death.

3. Other Muslim fathers have appeared to be credible, gentle fellows as they lured their wayward daughters back home -- after they had run away in fear for their lives. And then, once they were back home, they murdered them.

In light of those facts, the court would be foolish in the extreme, when it convenes again tomorrow, Friday, August 21, to expose Rifqa Bary to risk. There is no doubt that this would not be done in other child welfare cases -- any reasonable suspicion that the child could be in physical danger is acted upon immediately, and the child removed from the home. For what conceivable reason should this case be different?

Please note that, besides "honor killings," in countries under Shari'a law, it is a capital offense, punishable by death, for a Muslim to convert to another religion.

Well, it's taken me awhile to read through all of this and all I can say! Jeff, you're a maniac behind the keyboard! :-)

After reading through this, I can see why you would say that Islam may be the most demonic religion in the world. Of course, anything that is not Christianity is, if not controlled, at least influenced by the "prince of this world". So in some sense, all non-chrisitan faiths are "demonic".

Technically, historically speaking, Satanism doesnt' preach or teach murder (as does Islam and other anti-Christian religions). The one and only formal doctrine of Satanism is, "Do what thou wilt"--that's it. If you want to kill it. If you want to be a "moral" it. The one and only directive to us a people is to do whatever is in our heart to do.

Of course, modern "satanists" tend to gravitate to all kinds of manifestations of "evil", but historically, Satanism is anti-God in declaring that an individual person, not God, is the authority in his life and to be true to one's humanity is to simply do whatever one wants.

On the surface, Satanism is much more generous and ecumenical than Islam. Of course, they are both religions that serve Satan in opposition to YHWH.

Yes, I have heard this, from Satanists. But I had in mind the stories of human sacrifices I have heard supposedly committed by them. However, I have not done much research to find out whether those stories are true or not, so I really can't comment much on it.

I previously sent two e-mails to Charlie Crist, and I also called his office and spoke to his secretary. Warren Davis, of the Office of Citizen Services, replied to me earlier today, and he just now sent a second e-mail to me. Here is his e-mail to me:

"Thank you for contacting Governor Charlie Crist. The Governor asked that I respond on his behalf.

Governor Crist today expressed his gratefulness to Circuit Judge Daniel Dawson for his decision to grant Fathima Rifqa Bary the right to remain in Florida. In this case, the first and only priority of Governor Crist's administration is the safety and wellbeing of this child. The
Governor also expressed gratitude for the good work of Department of
Children and Families Secretary George Sheldon and his General Counsel, Rob Wheeler, for personally advocating the administration's position by
attending today's hearing.

Please be assured Governor Crist will continue to fight to protect Ms. Rifqa Bary's safety and wellbeing as this case moves forward.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact Governor Crist.

I just now sent a reply e-mail to Warren Davis, saying:

"Mr. Davis,

That is wonderful news! I have tears in my eyes as I write this. I realize that she is most certainly not out of danger, and there is a very real chance she
could still be killed, and she may never be completely out of danger. And I realize the case will continue. But this is most certainly an answer to prayer.

"Contacted by, Rifqa'a father Mohamed Bary said he has no intentions of harming his daughter."

Don't believe that. As I mentioned in an earlier comment, Al-Takeyya is the Islamic principle of lying for the sake of Allah. It is encouraged and permitted under the Muslim doctrine of Al-Takeyya that Muslims can lie to non-Muslims to help Islam. They are also permitted to deceive fellow Muslims when the one lying has deemed them to be apostates.

"The Barys reportedly emigrated from Sri Lanka in 2000 to seek medical treatment for Rifqa, who lost the sight in her right eye following an accident at home."

What do you want to bet that the "accident" was from her father hitting or kicking her?

Thank you very, very much for your prayers for her. They are much appreciated, and continued prayer is needed for her next hearing on Sept. 3rd.

Some of the "honor killing" cases that I have reported or linked to in these comments were actually, surprisingly enough, committed by "moderate" Muslims.

One woman in a Facebook group I belong to commented to me as follows:

"I've chosen to address the enemy as "Islam" rather than Muslims or fundamentalist Muslims or radical Muslims for a specific reason-- the most important reason being that Islam IS the enemy in the sense that it is the doctrine of Islam that has been driving the behavior of Jihadists for 1400 years.

Also, I don't think using the terms "fundamentalists", "radicals", etc. is useful. It completely minimizes the real underlying cause of Jihad which IS the doctrine and Mohammad's behavior as recorded."

And someone on another website commented:

"The problem is that to be a "peaceful" Muslim one has to bear the sort of relationship to one's religion that Christians call being "nominal" or "lukewarm" or, at least, "modernist." In other words, the religion has to be radically and implausibly "reinterpreted" to make it appear peaceful. This renders moderates liable to be radicalized at any time in the name--plausibly enough--of becoming true Muslims or better Muslims."

Message from Pastor Blake and Beverly

Dear Family,

God gave us a great victory yesterday. None of the news experts or legal analysts gave Rifqa a chance, but God, your prayers, and leaders in Florida brought forth this triumph. Thank you for your prayers and support. Beverly and I are keeping a low profile for now because the media tried to make this about us. It is about Rifqa and saving her life and giving hope to thousands of Muslim girls who live in bondage and oppression.

Also, do not believe anything they say I say in the newspaper or tv,( unless it is good of course! Just kiddding.)

The battle has just begun so keep praying and believing. We have seen the Hand of God work a mighty miracle yesterday.

This Sunday, Rifqa's pastor, a former Muslim, will give a testimony. Come ready to celebrate.

Below is a letter that touched us. So many people have risen up from around the world. God has connected us with a mighty army.

God Bless,
Love, Blake and Beverly

Dear Pastor Blake and Beverly!

It’s not over, but we’ve definitely gained the momentum for Rifqa!! We have effectively swung some very powerful people, including Gov Crist, AG McCollum and Majority Leader Adam Hasner, all who have come to her direct defense!

McCollum and Hasner have been solidly on board with her vigorous protection from square one. The DCF has also been incredible throughout this ordeal. There are some absolutely wonderful “coincidences” that are mind blowing!! Why in the world would their upper level staff “happen” to include a Persian Christian who has been educating the highest levels of this department on the dangers of radical Islam for years? They didn’t need our information! They know that facts surrounding honor killings as well or better than we do! The Lord’s mighty hand and works have been so evident and amazing through all of this.

This is a major win for the larger battle at hand. Rifqa’s personal life experience may just be the tipping point to be able to effectively warn America of this evil we face. Her example may lead to hundreds of women nationwide also escaping their own threatening situations regarding “Honor” and the supremacy teachings of Islamists. Please understand that not all Muslims are purists who actually read their Koran, Hadiths and Sira. Rifqa’s parents are purists who happen to drink their Islam straight. They know what they must and will do if they get her back.

In another great development today, Fox News has a great opinion poll up showing currently that 93% of respondents support Rifqa’s immediate protection by staying in Florida!!

The judge would be very remiss to go against the tremendous tide that has been built. It’s possible she might buck the tide, but the probabilities are now very low. Just yesterday, the propensity of legal analysts around the country were confidently predicting that “legal precedent dictates she be returned back to Ohio”. It was a done deal in their eyes. Not with the Lord in charge and his people actively praying and working on her behalf!

Keep praying and keep working for Rifqa! We will also. You have literally saved her life by your actions. Please take a moment and let that sink in …….………! I love you both so much for doing this! It was her attraction to your love for Jesus that brought her to safety. Her courageous journey to Orlando and your open arms of hospitality and grace have bought her the precious time she needed.

Please also pass my remarks to your obviously wonderful body of believers at your church! I know that they have surrounded you both with their love and encouragement. I just know that they have to be amazing! Thank them for me. Thank them for being the hands and feet and heart of Jesus to a lost and dying world.

(These last three comments have been e-mails that I have received from these people).

Hello my friends!

Steven & I were so blessed to be in the courtroom Friday, Aug 21st with Rifqa Bary and heard the whole case! There are so many great details I will write about later, but most of all Rifqa was granted the right to stay in FL
for her protection and because the state of FL has jurisdiction over this case now, because the state of Ohio never filed a case prior to this one. Ohio never
did anything about past abuse of Rifqa, possibly because of such Muslim intimidation there in Ohio since this Columbus, Ohio mosque in which Rifqa's parents are involved in has had past "terrorist activities" and arrests associated with it. Obviously Rifqa's school never reported any of the times she was brought to the nurses office with bruises, etc. It still amazes me as to "what people say" and "what money will buy" and how these worldly sins can prevent, even "good" people from doing the "right thing" and reporting
"the abuse of a child by her parents" to the authorities, although if the authorities are also being paid off to "keep criminal activity quiet", I'm
sure it can be difficult to "know who to trust", just what the devil wants to keep people in bondage to his lies! The Word of God says; Be wise as serpents and gentle as doves! Get educated on Islam so you can do an effective work for the Lord! The "time is now" not later or after your five
year plan. The devil won't wait and neither does the Lord in using us in "His timing"! Let us help you to be effective in the body of Christ to be equipped to share the gospel with Muslims.

We real Christians know there is only ONE to TRUST and that is Jesus, not man. Praise the Lord! Jesus was glorified in the court that day, not only literally and directly by Rifqa herself with her proclaimation of Jesus, but also through the compassion of Judge Dawson, FL Gov. Charlie Crist's response, DCF and the Attorney's representing Rifqa and what a witness to all in the court room and to Rifqa's parents!

Thank you all for your prayers to save her life from her Ohio Muslim parents, or the death threat of her Father, mostly!

Prayer does work, and that court trial was pure proof of it!!! Please continue praying! She is not out of the woods yet! The enemy will continue pursuit!
We praise God for Pastor Blake & Beverly and their obedience to the Lord through their church, Global Revolution Church,

Accurate reporting from World Net Daily:

We love you all so much and appreciate your support in every way!!!

Someone just e-mailed this to me:

August 24, 2009
Killing Rifqa
By Andrew Bostom

Rifqa Bary faces death for her apostasy from Islam, while the media ignores the solid religious and institutional grounding for the practice. Today. In America.

Magdi Allam, is an intrepid Egyptian-born writer and vociferous critic of jihadism who was publicly converted to Christianity from Islam by Pope Benedict XVI during an Easter eve service in St Peter's Basilica broadcast worldwide, Saturday March 22, 2008. Writing at the time of his public apostasy, Allam highlighted the West's weakness and flaccidity, foremost, its stifling multiculturalism.

Allam decried the multicultural ethos for blandly asserting the "equality" of cultural and religious mores, even abjuring rational criticism of Islamic religious bigotry -- such as authoritative Islam's living, consensus jurisprudence that those who apostasize from Islam must be killed -- lest the tender sensibilities of Muslims be offended. He noted how in his adopted homeland of Italy, every Muslim can go to a mosque, but in the Muslim world there is ongoing and long-standing discrimination against religious minorities -- notably Christians -- entirely ignored by Western multiculturalists, of all ilks. Allam observed, moreover, the perverse phenomenon that in Western countries,

"When a Westerner decides to convert to Islam, that's fine, but when a Muslim converts to Christianity, it is suddenly the end of the world. Everyone condemns him, as though he has done something of which he should be ashamed."

And Allam concluded with this appropriately stern warning:

"I say that it is time to put an end to the abuse and the violence of Muslims who do not respect the freedom of religious choice. In Italy there are thousands of converts to Islam who live their new faith in peace. But there are also thousands of Muslim converts to Christianity who are forced to hide their faith out of fear of being assassinated by Islamic extremists who lurk among us. If in Italy, in our home, the cradle of Catholicism, we are not prepared to guarantee complete religious freedom to everyone, how can we ever be credible when we denounce the violation of this freedom elsewhere in the world."

The unassuming and previously unknown Rifqa Bary, has now become, arguably, America's most conspicuous apostate from Islam to Christianity. Truncated, grossly warped media depictions of her plight demonstrate that the American chattering classes remain stubbornly unwilling to even acknowledge, let alone confront Islam's malevolent doctrinal intolerance, ignoring Magdi Allam's plaintive appeal.

Rifqa Bary is a 17 year-old Sri Lankan native who was living in New Albany, Ohio (a suburb of Columbus) until recent dramatic events precipitated her flight to Orlando, Florida. An excellent student and High School cheerleader, Rifqa apostasized from Islam, clandestinely practicing Christianity for some 4-years by her account. Hard evidence, i.e., a FaceBook webpage captured by Pamela Geller -- consistently ignored by the media, including Fox News -- clearly documents that she was a professing Christian over two years ago, at any rate.

Jeff said...

Geller's singularly tenacious and thorough reporting has provided the chronology and context which elucidates Rifqa Bary's plight. Rifqa was "exposed" as a Christian apostate from Islam by her father's Columbus area mosque -- the Noor Islamic Center, a hotbed of jihadism and Jew- and other infidel hatred. As Bary's August 18th legal petition records,

"The child's parents are devout followers of Islam and members of the extreme Noor Islamic Cultural Center in Columbus, Ohio. This is where the internationally known Hamas cleric, Salah Sultan, was the resident scholar before being banned from the United States. Salah Sultan is known as a global terrorist who publicly advocates the killing of Americans and Jews. The largest cell of Al Qaeda operatives was operating from the largest mosque in the Columbus area. Columbus is one of the cities under current investigation concerning the U.S. operations of Al-Qaeda. The child is a target for the radical Muslim community of Columbus, Ohio."

Subjected to paternal abuse (bruises on Rifqa's limbs classmates allegedly brought to the attention of her High School counselor), Rifqa ultimately felt compelled to flee Ohio in July when her father threatened to murder his "apostate" daughter. She found temporary refuge in Orlando, Florida with Reverend Blake Lorenz, pastor of the Orlando-based Global Revolution Church, whom she had met through an online Facebook group. With Lorenz at her side, Rifqa Bary provided this desperate appeal (captured in full on YouTube) during an ~ 6-minute interview with WFTV:

"If I had stayed in Ohio, I wouldn't be alive. In 150 generations in family, no one has known Jesus. I am the first -- imagine the honor in killing me? There is great honor in that, because if they love Allah more than me, they have to do it. It's in the Koran. I'm fighting for my life. You guys don't understand. ... I want to worship Jesus freely, that's what I want. I don't want to die."

This past Friday August 21, Orlando Circuit Judge Daniel Dawson's decision granted her the right to remain protected within Florida's foster care system until another hearing is held September 3rd.

The mainstream media narrative, in stark contrast to Pamela Geller's hardboiled (while patent) shoe leather reporting, was apparently developed via inept, lazy and uninformed pseudo-investigation, and imbued with an impenetrable "see no Islam" mentality. Hence the repeated media portrayals of Rifqa Bary as a delusional teenage rebel, "brainwashed" to leave her loving middle-American Muslim home by a Florida-based fringe Christian cult. Although Fox News television has at least reported the story, it has also been a (the?) major purveyor of this warped narrative, and its coverage has been devoid of the critical Islamic context -- in legal theory and practice -- regarding apostasy.

Fox News legal analysts -- with the exception of one who hosted a pellucid ~ 4-minute discussion by security expert Frank Gaffney -- have endlessly spoken about "jurisdiction," Florida versus Ohio, yet they appear incurious about the corpus of germane Islamic jurisprudence -- which remains applicable in our era -- sanctioning the killing of apostates. Fox News has ignored moving and informed written public appeals in support of Rifqa Bary by two prominent, remarkably courageous Muslim apostate intellectuals who have sought refuge in America, Nonie Darwish, and Wafa Sultan.

Fox News has also failed to provide its vast audience with the insights of the most authoritative contemporary scholar on apostasy in Islam -- Ibn Warraq, author of the definitive modern work on the subject, "Leaving Islam." Mr. Warraq is also a refugee from lethal Islamic intolerance now living in America. All three of these individuals -- Nonie Darwish, Wafa Sultan, and Ibn Warraq -- are readily accessible to Fox News, but the media giant has thus far chosen not to interview them and share their views.

Punishment by death for apostasy from Islam is firmly rooted in the most holy Muslim texts -- both the Koran (verses such as 2:217 and 4:89) and the hadith (i.e., collections of the putative words and deeds of the Muslim prophet Muhammad, as compiled by pious Muslim transmitters), as well as the sacred Islamic Law (the Shari'a). For example, Muhammad is reported to have said "Kill him who changes his religion," in hadith collections of both Bukhari and Abu Dawud. There is also a consensus by all four schools of Sunni Islamic jurisprudence (i.e., Maliki, Hanbali, Hanafi, and Shafi'i), as well as Shi'ite jurists, that apostates from Islam must be put to death. Averroes (d. 1198), the renowned philosopher and scholar of the natural sciences, who was also an important Maliki jurist, provided this typical Muslim legal opinion on the punishment for apostasy:

"An to be executed by agreement in the case of a man, because of the words of the Prophet, ‘Slay those who change their din [religion]'...Asking the apostate to repent was stipulated as a condition...prior to his execution."

The contemporary (i.e., 1991) Al-Azhar (Cairo) Islamic Research Academy-endorsed Shafi'i manual of Islamic Law, 'Umdat al-Salik (pp. 595-96) states:

"Leaving Islam is the ugliest form of unbelief (kufr) and the worst.... When a person who has reached puberty and is sane voluntarily apostasizes from Islam, he deserves to be killed. In such a case, it is ask him to repent and return to Islam. If he does it is accepted from him, but if he refuses, he is immediately killed."

The media's ignorance (or denial) of relevant Islamic jurisprudence on apostasy is compounded by its obliviousness to public pronouncements by North American Muslim legal scholars and clerics urging draconian punishments for Muslims who renounce Islam in Canada, or the US.

Syed Mumtaz Ali, the late architect of Canada's Sharia (Islamic Law) tribunal, and law professor Ali Khan, for example both advocated extending Islamic apostasy laws to the West. Mumtaz Ali, in a disturbing essay, affirmed the traditional Islamic legal viewpoint that apostates must "choose between Islam and the sword," arguing further that if Canada were to act in accord with its own Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Canadian government must grant the country's Islamic community authority to punish those Muslims who apostasize, or malign their faith.

Jeff said...

Washburn (Topeka, Kansas) University Law Professor, Ali Khan, another practicing Muslim, provided a more original, but no less chilling rationale for Muslims in the West to violate -- fatally -- the basic freedom of conscience of their co-religionists. Khan argued in The Cumberland Law Review that apostasy from Islam is an "attack" upon "protected knowledge," which if deemed (i.e., by some Islamic tribunal one must assume!) to be "open, hostile, and voiced contemptuously," justified punishment by death. Ali Khan is convinced that traditional Islamic law precepts antithetical to freedom of conscience nevertheless trump this foundational Western freedom, because,

"Islam is the truth beyond doubt. [And] [t] hese rules preserve the dignity of protected knowledge, discouraging an ‘easy in, easy out' attitude toward Islam."

Just this April, Harvard Muslim chaplain Taha Abdul-Basser explained approvingly to a Muslim student that the traditional Islamic practice of executing apostates from Islam, remained both venerable, and applicable:

"There is great wisdom (hikma) associated with the established and preserved position (capital punishment), and so, even if it makes some uncomfortable in the face of the hegemonic modern human-rights discourse, one should not dismiss it out of hand."

With the exception of my colleague Diana West, the mainstream media completely ignored this important and revealing story, emanating from Harvard, no less.

Rifqa Bary's public apostasy from Islam is a watershed event which will gauge just how far into the depths of stultifying Islamic correctness we have descended. Diana West recently provided this unflinching assessment of what is at stake if we fail to muster the requisite moral and intellectual fortitude:

"...the war against alienating Islam is not a war I want to fight - and no adherent of Western liberty could believe it is the war we want to win. Indeed, this war effort turns out to be the same thing as fighting for Islam. It calls us to self-censorship, self-abnegation, self-extinguishment. It depends on and encourages our submission."

[Note: I would like acknowledge my indebtedness to the work of two exceptionally courageous, and intellectually honest journalists, Pamela Geller, and Diana West. Pamela has done the only serious investigative reporting on Rifqa Bary's case. Diana West coined the apt phrase, "see no Islam" as part of her unique, ongoing analysis of the dhimmitude of the American intellectual class.]

I am learning that Muslims understand religion as a whole and integrated way of life. Secular, Christian-influenced cultures can confuse and even anger Muslims who see things through their holistic worldview. They often view "Hollywood sexuality" as "Christian," or a military action as a "Crusade." To them, the cross is a military symbol.

I am learning that in Islam, brotherhood and consensus is emphasized, and individualism is avoided. The "community of the faithful" is responsible to enforce the moral code. This can explain how a lone Muslim, outside a community support structure, does not feel as guilty when breaking the code. However, bringing shame on his family or community would be a great sin. Avoiding shame and protecting honor are primary motivations of most Muslims. Shame and honor are community-related, as contrasted to an individual sense of guilt.

But followers of Jesus believe they are to impact culture for Christ by going into all parts of the world to bring the message of Jesus to the people that live there. (Matthew 28:19-20) In the West, a division exists between culture and religion. Religion is separated from government, and some people object to any influence of religion on state institutions and symbols.

Jeff said...

Followers of Jesus do influence Western culture and institutions, but they seem to be a shrinking influence. Western culture affirms individualism and some people avoid community responsibility. Tolerance of sin and unbiblical practices continue to dilute the true Christian message; evolutionism and atheism also continue to influence the increasingly secular West. Only a minority of those in the West consider themselves followers of Jesus Christ. Most simply consider themselves Christian by name only, and do not follow the teaching of the Bible, of which they are largely ignorant. Generally, Western culture does not have a sense of the "community of the faithful."

A while back, Time magazine ran a cover article asking the question: "Should Christians Convert Muslims?" The artwork featured a militant-looking clenched fist holding a metal cross reminiscent of a Crusader's sword. This imagery correctly symbolizes some typical Muslim misunderstandings, especially when viewed with the cigarette advertisement on the back cover. The advertisement features a sensual goddess-like model with men fawning at her feet. These pictures display some fears of Muslims: to be dominated militarily and corrupted morally by "Christianity."

The challenge is to present a correct view of the cross. Mel Gibson's movie, "The Passion of the Christ" has been seen by Muslims all over the world. They have seen the cross as a symbol of suffering, not as a military or political icon. Followers of Jesus, through their words and actions, are called to show Muslims that God loves all people so much that Jesus died on the cross. He also defeated Satan and death by rising from the grave. Jesus made it possible for all of God's children to live with Him forever. This "good news" should be attractive to Muslims.

For almost 2 weeks now, I have been very disturbed and haunted regarding the case of the double murders of sisters Amina and Sarah Said, 18 and 17 years old, in Texas on New Year's, 2008. They were shot to death by their father (who is from Egypt) because they were dating non-Muslim boys. (Their father married a 15-year-old girl when he was 32, I think, and that is their mother.) I watched a home movie of them, and their father not only dominated and controlled their lives like a cruel dictator, but flirted extensively with his younger daughter and hated the other daughter. He had raped both daughters when they were 8 and 9 years old, and often beat them up, leaving bruises and scars. He once hit the older daughter so hard that her lip was embedded in her braces. If it were not for my belief in Election, it would be incredibly difficult to think that two young, beautiful girls, who were so tortured and mistreated by their own biological father in life, and shot to death by him when they were still teenagers...that just because they were raised as Muslims rather than as Christians, they will likely spend all of eternity in Hell (of course, I cannot say dogmatically that this is the case, but from my limited knowledge of their case and life, this is what I suspect). On the surface, this seems horrifically and monstrously unfair and unjust. However, part of my emotional outcry at this is likely because they were so gorgeous and beautiful. If they were each 300 lbs. and extremely ugly---although it seems terrible to admit this---I doubt that I would be as outraged. It is a sad fact that we tend to judge people by their looks. In reality, however, it is God Who gave them their beauty.

Another fact to consider is that, even if they were raised in Christian homes, and even if they went to a Protestant church, and even if they attended a private Christian school, that is no guarantee that they would spend eternity in Heaven, because going to church, or being baptized, or having a father who is a Pastor, or believing in the existence of God or of Jesus...none of these, in and of themselves, saves a person from Hell. A person must be regenerated by the power of the Holy Spirit, made possible by the shed blood of Jesus Christ for the redemption of our sins, in order to be saved from Hell and spend eternity in Heaven. It is a work of God, through the Holy Spirit, that saves a person. And, if those girls had been elected for salvation before the beginning of time, their names would have been written in the Lamb's Book of Life, and no matter what religion they were born into, no matter what their family was like, and no matter what country they were born in, they would have been saved and would have accepted Christ. This is evidenced by the thousands, or by some accounts millions, of Muslims in the Middle East who have never met a Christian, but who have come to Christ through dreams and visions.

Rifqa Bary has referred, in her defense, to the case of Amina and Sarah Said, as evidence that honor killings really do occur (according to the U.N., an estimated 5,000 honor killings happen each year, though the actual number is likely higher, since most are not reported, and some are reported as something else). Of course, most honor killings occur because the daughter or wife has become, in the eyes of Islam, too "Westernized." Rifqa's case is far more serious, because in countries under Shari'a law, a Muslim who converts to another religion has committed a capital crime, punishable by death. In any case, my thought is that possibly God is using Amina and Sarah's murders, which is the most well-known case of honor killings, to my knowledge, to help Rifqa. Possibly, that could have been God's design all along. As Mr. Kelly Cook, the National Field Director for "ACT! for America" has said, "Rifqa’s personal life experience may just be the tipping point to be able to effectively warn America of this evil we face. Her example may lead to hundreds of women nationwide also escaping their own threatening situations regarding “Honor” and the supremacy teachings of Islamists." Not only that, but Karen Masood, a missionary to Muslims who was in attendance at Rifqa's last court hearing, said, "Jesus was glorified in the court that day...literally and directly by Rifqa herself with her proclaimation of Jesus...and what a witness to all in the court room and to Rifqa's parents!"

My point to all this is concerning God's sovereignty. What if Amina and Sarah Said's deaths were for the purpose of helping Rifqa Bary's case? After all, Amina and Sarah were not saved anyway, so why not be used for God's glory? God used Pharaoh for His glory in Moses' day! What if Amina and Sarah were given their beauty so that many people would be attracted to their news story, and this would lead to their story being used to help Rifqa Bary's case, not only to wake Americans up to honor killings and to the evils of Islam, but far more importantly, to lead some to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior? All of this is, of course, speculation, but it is also in line with God's sovereignty over us as His creations. He made us, so He can do with us as He pleases.

Regarding my trying to figure out whether a person is now in Heaven or in Hell, especially someone I've only heard or read about in the news, I think of the following verses:

"So Peter seeing him said to Jesus, "Lord, and what about this man?" Jesus said to him, "If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me!" (John 21:21-22)

Regarding God's sovereignty, it is not my responsibility to judge whether a person is now in Heaven or in Hell. God has given us the requirement for eternal life in His Word, but we cannot see people's hearts, and we do not know every detailed aspect of their lives or their thoughts. So I feel that God is telling me, "What business is it of yours? I am the Judge, not you. Your only responsibility is to tell others the good news, and to follow Me!"

Rifqa Bary is not alone.

In Egypt there are thousands of cases where individuals fled abroad in fear of murder, like madame Nahed Mitwaly, Dr. Mohamed Rahoma, Reham abd Elghafor, etc.
There are cases where individuals are killed without anyone hearing about it, because of media blackout.

"Theodoor "Theo" van Gogh (23 July 1957 – 2 November 2004) was a Dutch film director, film producer, columnist, author and actor. He was the great-grandson of Theo van Gogh, who was the brother of painter Vincent van Gogh. Van Gogh was well known for his criticism of Islam. On 2 November 2004 he was murdered by Mohammed Bouyeri, a Muslim extremist, after van Gogh with collaboration from Ayaan Hirsi Ali released Submission, a film critical of the treatment of women within the Islamic world. The last film he completed before his death, 06/05, is a fictional version of the assassination of politician Pim Fortuyn."

"Mohammed Bouyeri murdered Van Gogh in the early morning of 2 November 2004, in Amsterdam, in front of the Amsterdam East borough office (stadsdeelkantoor) on the corner of the Linnaeusstraat and Tweede Oosterparkstraat, while he was bicycling to work. Bouyeri shot van Gogh eight times with an HS 2000 handgun, and Van Gogh died on the spot. Bouyeri then cut Van Gogh's throat, nearly decapitating him, and stabbed him in the chest. Two knives were left implanted in his torso, one attaching a five-page note to his body. The note threatened Western governments, Jews and Ayaan Hirsi Ali (who went into hiding). The note also contained references to the ideologies of the Egyptian organization Takfir wal-Hijra."

"Imam Fawaz of the as-Sunnah Mosque in The Hague gave a sermon several weeks before the murder in which he called Theo van Gogh "a 'criminal bastard' and beseech[ed] Allah to visit an incurable disease upon the filmmaker."

"Islam is aggressively violent, by design; irreparably. I quote Islamic law."
What's Wrong With Islam/Muslims?

" echoes the voice of ex-Muslims who want to stop the spread of Islam, expose its violent nature, and help Muslims to understand it and leave it. We believe in the oneness of humanity and oppose Islam for inciting hatred against non Muslims. Muhammad instructed his follower to conquer the world by the sword and to rule it with terror. We are determined to not let that happen."
Faith Freedom International

"Prophet of Doom is the best-documented, most comprehensive, presentation of Islam's five oldest and most reliable scriptural sources. Ishaq's Biography of Muhammad, Tabari's History of Islam, and Bukhari's and Muslim's Hadith, were used to reorder the Qur'an chronologically and to set its surahs into the context of Muhammad's life. When this evidence is evaluated systematically, the only rational conclusion is that Islam's lone prophet was a ruthless terrorist, a mass-murderer, a thief, slave trader, rapist and pedophile."

Concerning Muhammad and his so-called 'revelations' and the Qur'an, I find this interesting:

"According to Islamic tradition, Muhammad, at the age of forty, began to receive revelations from God through the angel Gabriel. His first alleged encounter with the heavenly messenger was quite violent. While Muhammad was in a deep trance, Gabriel appeared to him and, either by choking or some other life-threatening gesture, forced Muhammad into submission. “Read,” Gabriel demanded, “in the name of thy Lord, who created man from clots of blood” (sura 96:1; cf., Schmalfuss, 1982, p. 311). Since the encounter was both violent and accompanied by convulsions that sent him into an unconscious trance, Muhammad at first was unsure of the source of his vision. He feared that he possessed one of the jinn (demons) commonly believed to inhabit Arab poets and soothsayers (Anderson, 1975, p. 94). Khadija and others, however, assured Muhammad of the divine source of his visions. Once convinced of his prophetic call, Muhammad’s revelations occurred with increasing frequency."

Compare this to the Mormon's (Latter-Day Saints) Joseph Smith's visit by an angel:
"The Angel Moroni is an angel that Joseph Smith, Jr. claimed visited him on numerous occasions, beginning on September 21, 1823. The angel was the guardian of the golden plates, which Smith said were buried in a hill near his home in western New York, and which he said were the source material for the Book of Mormon."

"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:8)

Someone on Facebook said, in response to critics who were suspicious of Rifqa Bary's story being made public:

"This whole discussion up to this point has been a cheap insult and unworthy of the likes of Rifqa. I think we would all do well to respond to her predicament instead in this way.

First, we should admire the courage of one that would choose liberty even at the risk of death. (Patrick Henry said it best!)

Secondly, we should search our own hearts to see if we have a shred of the courage that Rifqa has displayed here.... Read More
Do we think that we are exempt? Is our faith important enough to us that we would forsake friends, jobs, homes, or families? I don't want to squander this chance to search my own heart and life, facing the truth of what I find. Is our foundation the solid rock, or just sinking sand? Is it mere philosophy, or is it a relationship with the living God?

Someday, maybe soon, your life or mine may be on the line. What would you critics be saying to get someone to listen? Will you only get an "Et tu, Brute?" response to your cries? Suspicions of hidden agendas? Pray about it."

I do not want to mention names, because I do not wish to put anyone in the line of fire, but someone else on Facebook said this:

"I have been friends with Rifqa on facebook since last summer and have witnessed her fear firsthand. Her choice to go public with this is an act of obedience and the fulfillment of a calling on her life. As it has been noted, she is an example to all of us and causes us to really consider the price we're willing to pay for our faith. She is also an example for others who are trapped in secrecy behind their fear, so they can come out and unite, publicly proclaiming their faith. She is as Esther was to the Jews.... she needs our prayers and fasting, not criticism. We have not yet been asked to be obedient to the point of death on a cross (Phil 1:8), nor have we been asked to walk in Rifqa's shoes. Should we be, my prayer is that we would be willing to sacrifice our reputation and even our lives to obey so that others may find freedom. Blessings to all!"

The same person also commented:

"Oh... and Ohio (where her parents live) does not have an emancipation law for 17 yr olds. And, yes... she is not a US citiizen. Her family came here when she was 8 or 9 to find medical treatment for her eye (one eye is blind... please pray for healing too.) Then one day in school a classmate witnessed to her (middle school I think) and she accepted... Read More Christ. She truly believes her life is in danger and would rather be killed as a result of Jesus being publicly proclaimed rather than be killed silently and quietly behind the scenes.
